The Old Town Hall, the main backdrop of our Advent calendar, is the landmark of Leipzig. The history of the Leipzig Christmas market began in the 15th century here on the Leipzig market square. In the many centuries of its existence, the Leipzig Christmas market has today developed into one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany. The Old Town Hall is home to the Leipzig City History Museum. Leipzig is known worldwide as an old trading and trade fair city, and the historic trade fair buildings such as Specks Hof and Mädlerpassage still show themselves to visitors in impressive splendor today.
The New Fair is outside the city center. Johann Sebastian Bach and the St. Thomas Choir are the musical monuments of Leipzig. Thomaskirche, Nikolaikirche, the stock exchange, the old Libra, the Coffe Baum, the coffee house Riquet, the central station Leipzig, the Völkerschlachtdenkmal, the old and the new city hall are some of the most important architectural monuments of the city Leipzig.
